Buying Japanese audio works on DLsite from outside Japan

DLsite, one of the stores Koetrail tracks, can be browsed in English, and its help pages, including the payment guide, have English versions.

Links from Koetrail may open a DLsite page in Japanese. On your first visit, DLsite shows a “Select Language” prompt if your browser is set to a language other than Japanese; choose English there. You can also switch later from the language menu at the top right of the page.

Paying from outside Japan

DLsite's English payment guide says the following about paying from outside Japan:

  • All charges are made in Japanese yen (JPY) and then converted to your country's currency.
  • Payment with a credit card issued outside Japan may not complete in some cases. For international users, paying with purchased points may be easier.
  • Some payment methods are only available to overseas customers when purchasing points.
  • If you see an error saying the card number is incorrect even though it is correct, setting up 3-D Secure on the card may solve it. If it does not, your card issuer may be blocking purchases on DLsite.

English editions are subtitled, not dubbed

DLsite's translated editions of voice dramas and ASMR keep the original Japanese voice acting and add translated subtitles. When DLsite announced the first such work in September 2022, it came with English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean subtitles.

A subtitled edition is sold as a separate product with its own product number. For example, “Sisters by the Sea - ASMR Healing Ocean Sounds with the Second Sister” (RJ01039964), voiced by Akane Fujita, has an English-subtitled edition listed as “[ENG Sub] Sisters by the Sea” (RJ01078297).

Finding a voice actor's works

Koetrail lists the audio works of voice actors who appear in anime, across DLsite, Audible and Pocket Drama CD. It does not list prices or whether a work can be bought from your country, so check the store page before buying.
